JOB DESCRIPTION

PERMIT CLERK/ TECHNICIAN 

JOB SUMMARY: 

 

• Process incoming permit applications for plan review and inspections 

  • Responsible for verifying and accepting submittals by ensuring all documents necessary for permit issuance are submitted and complete. 

  • Follow up on permits submitted to the City 

• Provide exceptional customer service to our internal and external customers 

• Provide copies of inspection reports as requested. 

• Answer incoming calls from Contractors, Cities and others requesting inspections to be scheduled 

• Schedule inspections received by phone and/or emails. 

• Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with co-workers and the public 

  • Must be a self-starter, able to work within a group and individually 

  • And other duties as assigned 

  

Preferred Skills and Qualifications: 

  • Requires clerical and technical support duties within the Fort Worth Office 

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills 

  • Previous permit technician experience is a plus 

  • Must have excellent typing, data entry, and clerical skills. 

  • Must be computer savvy. Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and working with different software and databases. 

  

Required Education, Education, and Certifications: 

High School Diploma/ Associates Degree (preferred) and 2-5 years of experience as a certified permit technician; or equivalent combination of education and experience
